Dapoxetine, aka Priligy®, is an oral product prescribed as a premature ejaculation pill.  Dapoxetine is not an approved drug in the U.S.. A prescription is needed in most countries when it is prescribed for premature ejaculation.  Dapoxetine is part of a category of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and the typical treatment is to alleviate depression.

SSRI’s have been prescribed off-label in the past to last longer in bed and have numerous side effects.  Their approved indications are mainly for depression and psychiatric disorders and not premature ejaculation treatment.  Most people would know SSRI’s as Prozac, Celexa or Zoloft.  The dosage regimen is every day regardless of sexual activity.  A known side effect of these drugs is a decrease in sex drive. Increasingly more doctors are recommending topical premature ejaculation solutions as these provide faster “on-demand solutions with fewer side effects to help sexually satisfy your partner.

Instead of the daily dosing required by other SSRIs, Dapoxetine is taken one to three hours before sex, i.e. before providing the desired benefit. It appears to have similar side effects as the other SSRIs being used off-label for the treatment of premature ejaculation.

If you are looking for a fast acting, on demand solution for premature (PE) or simply desire to last longer in bed, topical anesthetic sprays are faster acting, provide control on demand when it is needed with minimal side effects (no SSRI headaches). Advances in absorption technology, such as those in the patent pending EPIPHASIC® absorption technology allow men to maintain pleasurable and prolonged sex.
